1. About these terms
These Gift Voucher Terms apply to Rutherford Forge gift vouchers issued for forging courses, bladesmithing experiences and other Rutherford Forge offerings.
By purchasing or using a gift voucher, the purchaser and recipient accept these terms.
2. What the voucher covers
A voucher may be issued for a specific course, experience or value, as stated on the voucher.
The voucher may only be redeemed for the course, experience or product agreed with Rutherford Forge. It does not automatically include travel, accommodation, meals other than those stated in the course information, courier charges or other additional costs.
3. Validity
Unless a different expiry date is printed on the voucher, the voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
The recipient should contact Rutherford Forge and arrange a booking before the expiry date. Extensions may be considered at Rutherford Forge’s discretion but are not automatic.
Expired vouchers have no guaranteed cash or replacement value.
4. Booking and redemption
The voucher must be presented or quoted when making a booking.
A voucher does not guarantee a particular course date. Bookings remain subject to available dates, workshop capacity and the applicable Course Booking Terms.
The voucher may only be redeemed once and may not be redeemed for more than its stated value.
5. Course availability
Course dates must be arranged with Rutherford Forge in advance.
Rutherford Forge may offer alternative dates where the requested date is unavailable. The recipient should provide reasonable notice when requesting a booking.
6. Choosing a different course
A course voucher may be used toward a different Rutherford Forge course if this is agreed in advance.
If the replacement course costs more than the voucher value, the difference must be paid before the booking is confirmed.
If the replacement course costs less, no cash difference is payable unless Rutherford Forge agrees otherwise in writing.
7. Exchanging a course voucher for a knife
A course voucher is not automatically exchangeable for a knife.
An exchange may be considered only if Rutherford Forge has a suitable available knife that the recipient may choose from and Hylton Rutherford agrees to the exchange.
The knife should generally be reasonably comparable in value to the course or voucher value. If the selected knife costs more, the difference must be paid before transfer.
The recipient is not entitled to a particular knife, design, size, steel, handle material or finish unless this has been agreed in writing.
8. Payments and additional costs
A voucher covers only the stated course, experience or value.
The recipient remains responsible for any additional amount, upgraded course, special request, courier charge, accommodation, travel cost or other expense not included in the voucher.
9. Cancellations and rescheduling
Course bookings made using a voucher are subject to the cancellation and rescheduling provisions in the Course Booking Terms.
Rutherford Forge will generally try to accommodate a reasonable request to reschedule where sufficient notice is given and an alternative date is available.
Repeated late cancellations, failure to attend or failure to communicate may result in the voucher being treated as used.
10. Refunds
Gift vouchers are not redeemable for cash and are not refundable merely because the purchaser or recipient has changed their mind.
If a course or experience cannot be provided by Rutherford Forge, we will consider an alternative date, replacement experience or other appropriate arrangement.
Exceptional circumstances may be considered individually, but no discretionary exception creates an automatic entitlement to a cash refund.
11. Transfer
A voucher may be gifted or transferred to another person, provided that Rutherford Forge is informed before the booking is made.
The voucher may not be resold for more than its face value or used for unlawful, misleading or fraudulent purposes.
12. Lost, stolen or damaged vouchers
The purchaser or recipient should keep the voucher and any reference number safe.
Rutherford Forge may be unable to replace a lost, stolen, altered or damaged voucher unless the original purchase and voucher details can be verified.
13. International recipients
A voucher recipient living outside South Africa remains responsible for checking any visa, travel, customs, import, export or other legal requirements that may apply.
A voucher does not guarantee that an international recipient will be able to travel to South Africa or receive any physical item internationally.

Rutherford Forge may update these Gift Voucher Terms when its courses, products, booking arrangements or legal obligations change.
